Problem: To design a conceptual typeface and then promote the new design in the form of a type poster, display poster and poster card.
Concept: My goal was to design a typeface that could be used to help navigate a 3D interface; however , I was unable to resolve that problem. After wrapping my head around how a 3D typeface might be viewed in space , I decided that the answer could not be in the typeface, but rather in the usability of the interface.
After the typeface fell short of meeting my conceptual goals I still needed to promote it. I used a dirty tech feel similar to “Blade Runner” and I called the 2D font “Private Eye ” and the 3D font “Cityscape ”. The 3D font sits inside a dark city that has buildings that look like computer parts , and in this mess of computer noise the Cityscape font would help guide your way.
